POSITION SUMMARY

The primary function of the Sr Technical Program Manager role is to organize, coordinate, communicate and deliver on critical product, strategic, and business-critical programs by working cross-functionally across teams to cascade higher level goals into first, then next steps. Success in this role hinges on effective, empathic communication. She/He is the link between internal functions and the customer contact point with regards to program matters. He/She will be in charge of managing major programs at a key strategic Mobile customer located in Asia.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build trusting relationships both internally with team members/relevant stakeholders and externally with customers and partners
  • Proactively manage project milestones and timelines
  • Ensure on-time delivery on the defined customer milestones
  • Own the overall project and deliverables. Maintain work breakdown structure, detailed implementation schedule, and project plan
  • Oversee project development efforts to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and to specification
  • Lead technical project teams within the program and translate business requirements into technical deliverables
  • Lead planning session with Product and Engineering leads: perform resource capacity planning, build-out schedules, finalize and communicate the plan both internally and to the customer.
  • Capture and track inter-team dependencies & hand-offs
  • Conduct efficient and effective meetings - keeping things concise and on point
  • Define program metrics & KPIs, set up mechanisms to track/report
  • Communicate progress effectively to all relevant internal stakeholders including execs, product managers, engineering leads as well as to customer
  • Be a proactive problem-solver helping teams to side-step blockers, foresee issues before they arise, and limit predictable issues.
  • Align with other parallel programs - help to prioritize and overcome resource contention
  • Organize and/or create appropriate program documentation and communications
  • Conduct periodic retrospectives; continuously assess & improve process & tools


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering / Master’s degree in Electronic/Software/RF
  • 10+ years of industry experience in a fast-paced tech company –mobile/handset a big plus, including direct management and delivery of large, technically complex product development programs
  • Demonstrated technical skills including experience and thorough understanding of mobile architecture (HW/SW), RF/Transceiver component integration, SW stacks integration/Validation (Android OS a plus), mobile platform test/validation/manufacturing/certification.
  • Previous software engineering background with solid technical project management skills with ability to manage technical projects in cross-functional environment and across multiple regions.
  • Superior communications skills: interpersonal, written, and presentation
  • Superior organizational skills: notes, formal documentation, task assignment
  • Proven ability to understand and breakdown complex, multifaceted programs and projects into manageable pieces, organize cross-functionally and drive execution
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and starting from "scratch"
