Qorvo's Advanced Cellular Engineering is looking for a Staff Design Engineer ready to take on the many challenges of RF front-end module integration. A candidate for this role should have experience with module integration combining PA, laminate, switches, LNAs, duplexers, and couplers.  This person will understand key performance indicators for switches, LNAs, duplexers, and PA and will be responsible for the design and simulation of the laminate/PCB. The candidate should be able to make decisions on component placement, matching, routing using advanced circuit and EM simulation tools to ensure good isolation, optimum matching and minimize losses. The candidate will be working with a product development team composed of other Design Engineers, Technicians, Project Management, Marketing, Quality to deliver RF products that meet customer specifications.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • RF frontend component design for mobile cellular applications in high volume production
  • Understand system specifications and marketing requirements for the product
  • Deliver high quality integrated laminate designs that meet parametric and cost targets within product development schedule
  • Must be able to perform and work with other engineers in RF/analog design area with specialization in filter design and co-simulations 
  • Work with Product Engineer and Project Manager to improve yield and cost throughout the design process. Make design choices to achieve performance, yield, cost and schedule
  • Use CAD programs (AWR, Keysight/Agilent ADS, Cadence Virtuoso and HFSS) for circuit design
  • Use Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzer, RF signal generators, etc. to perform characterization of engineering samples in design engineering lab  
  • Prepare engineering documents for communications with peers, customers and management
  • Constantly benchmark simulation with measurement to ensure best in class product at first pass
  • Interact with different disciplines and peers within Qorvo to deliver high performance and quality semiconductor products in mass production to our worldwide customers in mobile handset area
  • Contribute to cross functional continuous improvement efforts

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSEE required. MSEE preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in RF industry.
  • Proven track record designing and integrating RFIC for telecommunications (Eg: LNA, switches, filters, RF power amplifier, Power Management) using Keysight ADS/Cadence or similar
  • Extensive experience mitigating parasitic effects from laminate/PCB/package relying on EM simulation including proficient use of HFSS, ADS FEM or similar
  • Hands-on lab skills on device verifications and characterization
  • Experience in data analysis/mining/extraction statistical methods and tools
  • Strong problem-solving skill and sense of responsibility
  • Background in IEEE wireless standards or 3GPP cellular standards is a plus. (LTE-A, LTE, WCDMA, CDMA and/or 2G cellular standard)
  • Strong communication and presentation skill
