Sr. RF Applications/Systems Engineer
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design Win Support:
- Join a high-performing engineering team developing advanced RF integrated circuits and modules that include Power Amplifiers, RF Filters, Antenna Switches, Signal Routing Switches, and/or LNA’s. Participate in this development by performing application-oriented technical functions. Drive the optimization of RX and TX components to maximize performance. Work closely with design engineering, characterization engineering, and component level applications engineers. Identify end-application (primarily mobile handsets) or system level considerations to improve product definition. Assist with test definition and hands-on RF tests to verify standalone component performance. Also participate in the system-level impact analysis. Utilize specialized, proprietary test systems to emulate cellular handset transceiver operation to facilitate RF performance measurement. Collect, analyze, and present data on RF performance metrics such as linearity, ACLR, harmonics, emissions, system noise, coexistence, sensitivity, efficiency, calibrations/tuning.
- Marketing Support:
- Participate in analyses to understand current architectures and competitive landscape. Perform competitive analyses that enable marketing to determine next generation product performance targets.
- Customer Support:
- Work our parts to measure and optimize performance of the customer’s system. Ensure that our components meet or exceed system compliance requirements so they may be successfully designed into customer’s products. Collect and present data related to our parts to respond to customer requests.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BSEE or equivalent level of experience and/or training; MSEE preferred
- Applicants are expected to have a strong educational and practical background in fundamental RF concepts applicable to cellular RF components. Phone level system knowledge is also greatly beneficial.
- At least 6 years of related experience related to RF/analog engineering
- Ability to travel domestically – during some “seasons” travel may be up to 15%
KEY SKILLS
- Excellent technical communication
- Strong RF testing skills with experience in the use of network analyzers, signal analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and other lab equipment; experience with the R&S CMW is preferred
- PCB level debug/troubleshooting - handset level experience preferred
- Experience with a programming language such as Python, C#, VB.NET
- Experience with a data analysis tool such as Spotfire or Tableau
- Working knowledge of wireless systems including: 5G, 4G, GSM, LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and UWB
- Experience with simulation tools such as Matlab, Keysight ADS and/or NI AWR
- Working knowledge of performance tradeoffs in RF systems
- Ability to work in an environment with concurrent tasks that have shifting priorities
