Systems Engineering is a transdisciplinary and integrative approach to engineering.  At Qorvo, Silicon Control Systems Engineers focus on the control and operation of Qorvo's modules.  We break down the large, complex designs, requirements, and timing into blocks and sub-blocks that are understood and engineered by discipline-specific designers.  We ensure the integration of these sub-blocks work properly to achieve the customer needs in the sellable product (high volume mobile telecommunication market spanning numerous communication standards: 6G, 5G, 4G, 3G, GSM, WiFi, UWB, Bluetooth, IoT, etc.)

Our transdisciplinary focus enables us to lead interactions amongst Technical Leads, RF designers, Analog designers, Digital designers, Verification & Test engineers, Applications engineers, Software Engineers, Program Managers, and Sales & Marketing teams vital to the execution of Qorvo projects within the challenging marketplace where development timeframes, cost, manufacturing capability, and solution size are on the frontier of technology.

Our team is known for company transformation solutions and tools.  We develop and improve: scripts, tools, automation, and the simulation of Qorvo's industry-leading communication designs.  We help test teams (like production test) identify which tests matter and how to achieve and optimize test coverage targets within limited test times.

We provide detailed control block diagrams, block and sub-block requirements, control logic, detailed timing diagrams, and corresponding control mode tables that are developed through direct interactions with Qorvo's subject matter experts along with our design knowledge and skills.  Ideal Silicon Control Systems Engineer interns would demonstrate design and verification knowledge in multiple areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering.  They should have successfully completed multiple classes in at least 3 of the following areas:

  • Analog Circuit Design (Amplifiers, Bandgap, Voltage Regulators, Current DAC's, Temp Sensors, Protection Circuits, etc.)
  • Radio Frequency Design (RF Switches, LNA's, Power Amplifiers, etc.)
  • DC-to-DC Converter Designs
  • Digital Designs (Synchronous and Asynchronous Design)
  • Software Design

An ideal DSE Intern would have experience with the following tools, or their equivalents:

  • Microsoft Excel, especially complex operations and macros
  • Cadence IC and/or RF Design Software and/or Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS)
  • Matlab
  • C++/C#
  • Python, or other scripting languages
  • A student pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree is preferred.
