Qorvo's High Preformance Analog (HPA) division serves large markets including wireless connectivity, broadband, aerospace, defense, the IoT, and programmable power management. Through innovation and market leadership, HPA has established Qorvo's technology and product leadership in Gallium Nitride (GaN), expanding its use from defense radar and electronic warfare to commercial markets including 5G base-stations and broadband cable networks.

We are looking for a Senior Modeling Engineer who will be responsible for the creation and development of innovative, leading-edge GaN and GaAs-based RF models. This will involve fitting custom in-house Linear and Nonlinear Models for our designers and external customers to use for development of RF PA products on GaN and GaAs substrates. The modeling candidate will use design simulation tools such as MWO and ADS, and EM simulators such as Sonnet, Analyst and HFSS. You will be a key member on the Qorvo HPA Modeling Team that supports internal PA designers, R&D, Process and Product Engineering, and external Foundry PDKs.
 

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

• Work in close communication and cooperation with design, modeling, and process engineering teams to generate, implement and support best-in-industry Nonlinear and Linear models, such as physics-based ASM or other variants
• Use various device measurements, including DC, S-parameter, pulsed I-V, noise parameter and load-pull for model parameter extraction and then model verification
• Work with simulation environments, such as AWR’s MWO, Keysight’s ADS, using in-house Python-based extraction tools
• Report on and integrate industry innovations in RF and Microwave semiconductor modeling
• Evolve characterization methods and model forms to capture and model latest GaN device phenomena
• Process, verify and analyze the measured data; produce clear concise presentations and reports

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience (or equivalent combination of an advanced degree and experience) as a Model Development Engineer or a Design Engineer
• Experience fitting physics-based Nonlinear Models (Example: ASM)
• Familiar with RF and microwave measurements as it relates to semiconductor device modeling and validation, including on wafer characterization, loadpull, S-parameters, and Pulsed IV at a minimum
• Familiar with GaN and GaAs HEMT semiconductor technology
• Experience with 2.5D and 3D EM Simulation software

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters or PHD in Electrical Engineering
• Experience holding design review meetings
