Qorvo is seeking an Engineer with a proven track record in Supplier Quality to join our Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) Team. The ideal candidate will leverage broad quality expertise to support the selection, development, qualification, and ongoing management of supply chain partners, with a strong focus on fabricated metal suppliers. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, along with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative team environment, are essential for success in this role.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Product Development:
    • Execute Supplier Clean Launch activities to manage risk.
    • Support supplier selection and Approved Supplier List (ASL) management.
    • Oversee controls for prototype versus production materials.
    • Review and approve communication of Critical to Quality (CTQ) features into drawings.
    • Release quality information records and establish quality controls in SAP.
  • Supplier Quality Management
    • Active participation in supplier qualification activities.
    • Manage supplier change management (PCNs).
    • Manage and resolve supplier quality issues promptly.
    • Maintain supplier quality records and enforce continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Monitor supplier quality performance through on-site/virtual assessments, scorecards, and metrics.
  • Quality Systems
    • Apply practical knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 quality standards.
    • Support supplier quality systems and processes.
    • Utilize Qorvo systems for managing 8Ds, A3s, 8-step problem solving, and CAPA processes.
    • Manage supplier requirements through the Qorvo Supplier Documentation Portal.
    • Develop innovative strategies to drive quality improvements and proactively mitigate risks.
  • Cost of Poor Quality
    • Manage material nonconformance and communicate concerns regarding supplier quality.
    • Track and report quality metrics, health assessments, and performance monitoring.
    • Initiate and manage RMA/RTVs.
    • Resolve blocked stock of purchased materials.
  • General Responsibilities
    • Proactively mitigate risks and clearly communicate SQE roles and responsibilities.
    • Promote transparent communication of Qorvo requirements to suppliers.
    • Lead and actively participate in continuous improvement and cross-functional projects.
    • Lead resolution of supplier quality issues impacting global supply chains.
    • Participate as a key quality member in Commodity Management forums.
    • Travel domestically 10-15% or as needed. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of direct experience in manufacturing and quality systems.
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong preference for experience with Manufacturing and quality systems within the aero-space and defense industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of quality system requirements including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and AS9100.
  • Strong understanding of CTQ characteristics and challenges in fabricated metal manufacturing.
  • Experience in aerospace and defense supply chain quality systems and processes.
  • Solid background in quality management principles within semiconductor, assembly, and test manufacturing environments.
  • Expertise in process control, Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies, Design of Experiments (DOE), and quality management systems.
  • Proficient in data analysis, drawing conclusions, and driving continuous improvements.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with internal customers and complex supply chain suppliers.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to zero defects.
  • Skilled problem solver with experience in 8D methodology.
  • Quality auditor training or Lead Auditor certification preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and program management methodologies.
  • Experience with SAP and data reporting tools is highly desirable.
  • Polished presentation skills and ability to interface effectively with all management levels.
