The Senior Research and Technology Program Manager position within Qorvo's High Performance Analogy (HPA) Research group is a pivotal role responsible for managing customer-funded Research and Development (CRAD) programs sponsored by government agencies and defense and aerospace prime companies. This role involves leading cross-functional teams to execute these programs effectively to meet technical objectives, deliverables and schedules, developing and strategizing technical proposals, and generating cost proposals with functional support groups. The ideal candidate should possess a strong technical background in semiconductors/RF research, excellent communication skills, and proven organizational abilities. Key responsibilities include tracking budgets, reviewing proposals, defining milestones, and building strong customer relationships. This position requires someone who is passionate about technology development and demonstrates effective communication with external customers to understand their needs and provide regular updates. The role also includes managing internally funded projects to generate initial data and develop strategic relationships with potential customers or research partners.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Working with technical staff, the Research PM will serve as proposal manager to capture customer-funded Research and Development (CRAD) programs that are sponsored by government agencies
  • Manage and execute customer-funded programs effectively, working with cross functionals teams consisting of technical staff, manufacturing, contract compliance, finance, and others
  • Develop technical and cost proposal submissions with research team and support functions for new funded R&D programs
  • Expand CRAD opportunities, work on proposal approach and strategy, teaming, organize proposal content, work with diverse internal and external team to meet proposal requirements,
  • Responsible for cost proposal, organize technical tasks and project plans

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 12+ years of experience in engineering and/or leadership positions within the RF/Semiconductor industry such as design, applications, foundry, research, development, process development, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience with leading and/or managing technical project teams including meeting technical metrics, deliverables, budgets and schedules.
  • Proven track record in managing technology development programs
  • Experience in developing technical and cost proposal submissions with research teams and support functions
  • Experienced with effective communication and presentation with customers
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 5% of the time

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree or PHD in an engineering discipline strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of semiconductor industry/RF research and development experience
  • Experience in expanding Customer-Funded Research and Development (CRAD) opportunities, organizing proposal content, and working with diverse internal and external teams to meet proposal requirements
  • Managed department of defense (DoD) funded contracts
  • Working knowledge of finance and contracting terms
  • Served as technical project leads on relevant technologies such as RF devices, circuit design, packaging
