Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced PCB Design Manager to lead our high-frequency RF, power, and thermal management PCB design efforts. The ideal candidate will have in depth expertise in Cadence Allegro, IPC standards, and complex PCB layouts for semiconductor applications. This role requires strong leadership, technical innovation, and collaboration with engineering teams to ensure optimal design performance, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the PCB design team, providing technical guidance and mentoring
- Oversee the design of high-speed, complex PCBs, ensuring high-frequency RF performance and thermal efficiency and compliance with industry standards
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and hardware engineers and manufacturing specialists
- Optimize PCB layouts for signal integrity, thermal management, and reliability
- Ensure designs meet quality, cost, and efficiency objectives
- Collaborate with suppliers to source components and materials
- Utilize industry-leading tools such as Cadence Allegro for Sch/PCB design and SI analysis
- Review and approve designs, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with IPC standards and best practices
- Stay current on emerging PCB technologies and best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
- 7+ years of experience in PCB design, including high-speed and multilayer boards
- Strong knowledge of signal integrity, EMI/EMC considerations, and design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Strong knowledge of high-frequency RF applications, power, and thermal management
- Strong knowledge of IPC standards for PCB fabrication and assembly
- Expertise in PCB design software (Cadence Allegro, and ADS)
- Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
- Solid understanding of the physics and electrical principles of PCB design, particularly signal integrity, impedance control, and EMI/EMC mitigation
- Expert level understanding of Microstrip, Coplanar Waveguide, and strip transmission lines for RF performance
- Experience with high-speed digital interfaces and controlled impedance design requirements like USB, PCIe, Ethernet, SERDES, and DDR memory Working knowledge of JEDEC standards
- Skilled with Cadence Allegro or other PCB design software, including DRC capabilities
- Experience with RF simulation tools such as ADS, ANSYS HFSS, or RF Pro
- Firsthand characterization of PCBs in a lab environment after assembly
Leadership & Project Management
- Team Leadership: ability to manage and mentor PCB designers, ensuring high-quality work
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: experience working with IC designers, hardware engineers, and manufacturing teams
- Project Management: able to oversee multiple projects, meet deadlines, and manage design complexities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in industries such as aerospace, automotive, or telecommunications
- Familiarity with IPC standards and regulatory compliance requirements
- Industry Certifications in IPC (CID or CID+), ICEE, or other relevant certifications
- AI and Automation integration, experience applying Al-driven tools for PCB design optimization
