Qorvo is looking for an RF, mixed signal, and digital systems architect responsible to drive advanced development, new technologies, and cellular architectures. This position involves working with product development, R&D, and marketing to develop innovative architectural solutions that will position Qorvo’s products for inclusion in the design of next generation 5G and 6G wireless mobile handsets. This position reports to Mobile Products CTO & VP Engineering
Responsibilities:
· Lead cross-functional RF, digital, mixed-signal and software team in the analysis, architecture and design of solutions to address next generation systems
· Understand competitor’s offerings for next generation systems, and analyze benchmarked performance of competitor devices relative to Qorvo’s offering
· Present to Qorvo management new network topologies, architectures and trends aimed at delivering the optimum performance for various key performance indicators and how company technology should be focused to address these increasing bandwidth requirements
· Review customer’s roadmaps and technology proposals to identify potential applicable company products & technology
· Attend and support key customer technical meetings and presentations on a regular basis to develop relationships with their system level architects and roadmap designers
· Assess the impact of changing government regulatory requirements and spectrum allocation relative to product specifications and portfolio offerings.
· Use data driven processes to recommend technology and product areas of investment or M&A activity to strengthen and grow Qorvo’s product footprint
Specific Job Duties:
· Work with Marketing, Engineering and company partners in industry to ensure that products are market leaders that provide clear differentiation from a system level perspective
· Support key customer technical meetings, presentations and proposals to determine future product definitions, technology roadmaps and system level architectures
· Develop strong technical working relationships with key technical contacts and influencers at targeted customer accounts in assigned applications areas
· Develop detailed proposals and support the sales team to secure new reference design wins in next generation systems
· Benchmark and analyze data of competitive discrete RF devices and multi-function RFIC components
· Influence emerging communication standards such as 5G by actively participating in IEEE and industry working committees that are tasked with the developing standards for future systems
· Generate and deliver technical presentations to customers, outside sales personnel, and Qorvo internal sales, engineering, and management groups
· Travel to visit customers, company design centers and industry partners in US, Europe and Asia required, up to 10% of your time.
· Develop demonstrators of new architecture/technologies
Qualifications:
· MSEE minimum, PhD in EE preferred
· 15+ years’ experience in Wireless infrastructure communications systems and RF industry
· Previous employment history with OEM and/or chipset companies. For example: HW, NSN, E///, ALU, Qualcomm, Broadcom, ADI, TI, Samsung, Motorola, Commscope
· Understanding of existing Wireless 3G/4G standards (WCDMA, LTE, HSPA, etc.) and 5G standards
· Proven track record in patent generation
· Understanding 5G mmwave
· Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams
· Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
· Well known in industry through patents, publications, and participation in technical activities sponsored by professional & industry organizations
· Proven track record and ability to architect mixed technology systems including digital processing, software, mixed-signal and RF
· Experience with CMOS and Bipolar transistor level RF, analog, and digital transistor level design including understanding of Verilog RTL implementations
· Familiar with RF cellular system line-ups and with the RF components commonly used (RF amplifiers, mixers, attenuators, filters, VCOs, Synthesizers)
· Experience defining system architectures that employ distortion correction and efficiency improvements
· Understanding of how component specifications such as noise figure, phase noise, quantization error, ADC SNR, filter group delay, isolation, and amplifier linearity impact system performance
· Understanding and experience with system simulation tools such as experience with MATLAB, ADS, AWR, VSS and SystemVue
· Additional Technical expertise desired:
o Understanding of III-V semiconductor devices.
o Background in high efficiency RF power amplifier design - Familiar with digital linearization and pre-distortion techniques
o Experience with silicon-based Baseband transceivers, DACs, ADCs, Clocking, Digital and Analog functions
o Familiarity with other connectivity standards like existing Wi-Fi , UWB
- Experience with high capacity millimeter wave radios
