Summary

Qorvo Power Device Solutions (PDS) is seeking a highly qualified applications engineering candidate for SiC power products (discrete devices, co-packaged smart power devices and high power modules) focused on the emerging area of solid state circuit breakers, solid state power controllers and circuit protection. 

 

The position can be located in Princeton(NJ) or Richardson (TX). The location can be flexible for the right candidate willing to travel.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Overseeing the development of the product strategy for industrial, EV and Aerospace applications of solid state breakers and power controllers
  • Oversee the implementation of demonstration systems for the unique PDS circuit protection solutions
  • Being deeply involved with business development, for key customers, and providing technical support to bring key programs to successful launch
  • Working with partners on defining the controller, in conjunction with the power semiconductors, packages and system integration
  • Participating in standards bodies, and translating the standards requirements into product and control solutions
  • Defining the driver ICs, in conjunction with the power semiconductors, packages and system integration
  • Define methods of determining MTTF relevant to field use

 
Qualifications: 

  • Desired Degree: M.S/Ph.D 
  • >10 years experience with AC breakers, DC switchgear, Hybrid breakers, Solid state breakers, Solid state power controller and how show circuit breakers technology is deployed in industrial, ship, EV and Aerospace settings
  • System level knowledge on how breakers impact the design of downstream motor and other loads. And impact of breakers on large battery powered systems
  • Knowledge of current breaker technology, DC/AC/Contactors/Hybrid/Solid-state
  • Knowledge of Solid-state power controllers, and how to design with them
  • Knowledge of semiconductor components
