Opportunity / Position:

 

Qorvo is currently seeking a Manufacturing Systems Software Engineer to join its Hillsboro (Oregon) Fabrication facility Manufacturing Systems team. This is an exciting, multidimensional role and opportunity for growth within an experienced, high-performance IT group which designs, develops, and supports semiconductor manufacturing systems for Qorvo, a rapidly growing technology company supplying components to the wireless and communications industries.

 

Manufacturing Systems used by semiconductor companies deliver significant value by optimizing processes, enhancing productivity, ensuring quality, reducing costs, enabling flexibility, ensuring compliance, integrating supply chain operations, and fostering continuous improvement. These systems are essential components of modern semiconductor manufacturing operations, driving efficiency, competitiveness, and innovation in the industry.

 

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with experience in Software Development processes, programming, project management, and business process analysis. In addition, strong problem solving, verbal and written communication, inter-group coordination, multi-tasking, and teamwork skills are required.  Software development and troubleshooting are the primary focus, but experienced developers will help shape the architecture of the affected manufacturing systems.

 

 

Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations:

 

  • Plans, designs, develops, tests, tunes, maintains, and documents software programs and platforms.

 

  • Adheres to coding standards, pattern-based development principles and participates in coding review to help maintain and preserve established, best practices coding outcomes.

 

  • Implements integration solutions for disparate systems and assists in consultations with other departments for the selection and use of programming and productivity tools.

 

  • Maintains awareness of technology trends and identifies rationalized opportunities for recommendation and potential assimilation into existing systems solutions while prioritizing stability and consistency.

 

 

 

Necessary Skills:

 

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of and with Windows/Linux/Unix platforms systems development using .NET framework and SQL (MySQL and MSSQL).
  • Awareness/understanding of or comfort/experience with Shell, Perl, Tcl-Tk scripting languages on Linux or related/similar within context of newer corresponding technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with our internal Manufacturing, Engineering and Equipment teams.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving prowess.
  • Familiarity with Test-Driven development methodologies.
  • Experience writing modular, sustainable, and where necessary, object-oriented code.
  • Proficiency in direct user contact and consulting activities.
  • Motivated, dedicated individual with a very strong collaborative, knowledge sharing teamwork orientation.

 

Desired Skills and/or Proactive interest in Acquisition:

 

  • Direct experience with manufacturing systems (for example Manufacturing Execution Systems), especially within the semiconductor manufacturing industry, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux system programming, architecture.
  • Knowledge of Distributed Application Systems.
  • Documenting development activities such as tool characterization, design notes, and customer requirements.
  • Ability to compare log file contents to source code to determine root causes of failures.
  • Developing, testing, and deploying automation software, and providing support of delivered automation software.
  • Developing code modules within a predefined framework (top level vs. override) for automation processes.
  • Automation documentation and project planning.
  • Developing utilities and scripts to automate the sustaining and reporting processes.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar.
  • 3 plus years of demonstrated experience serving roles effectively within the Systems Development Life Cycle.
