The successful candidate will create mechanical and thermal models for Integrated Circuits (IC). Modeling activity will support product and process development.  Specific work will involve growing in understanding of various levels of semiconductor device fabrication through product assembly packaging materials, components, and technologies.  The candidate will gain exposure to other groups within the Global Packaging Engineering, within Global Operations, Process Fabs, and the various Business Units.  Participate in semiconductor product development through mechanical and thermal simulation.  



  • United States person.  No H1B sponsorship.
  • B.S. +10 years’ experience or M.S. +5 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science.
  • Significant knowledge (school/experience) of semiconductor devices, circuits, processes, and/or packaging.
  • Conversant about concepts of mechanical stress, strains, solid mechanics, and material failure criteria.
  • Good communications skills
  • Works well with people.
  • Strong mathematics background. 



  • Experience with simulation tools such as Ansys, Abaqus, etc.
  • Programming experience
  • Statistics knowledge and/or tools
  • Knowledge of RF concepts
  • Experience with math tools such as MatLab, Mathematica, Python/NumPy, etc.
  • Familiar with concepts of electrical measurements.
  • Familiarity with PCB and/or semiconductor layout and associated tools.
  • Experience with data base tools
  • In depth knowledge on computer hardware, software, and technical computing.
  • Knowledge of numerical methods in solution of ordinary and partial differential equations.
  • Innovative and problem-solving nature.
  • Familiar with principles of the effective visual display of quantitative information.

Candidates can have flexibility to be based near the Hillsboro, OR or Greensboro, NC office locations.
