SUMMARY:
As Director of Yield Engineering, this position will provide leadership to the Oregon Operations group to ensure delivery of key yield and quality metrics, as well as foster a culture of proactive continuous quality improvement, reflected in the key metrics of the organization as measured year-over-year. This position will lead a team of engineers and technicians in the yield department, while also championing and driving Quality Strategic Objectives across the entire Oregon Operations team. The ideal candidate needs to be an excellent technical problem solver while leading and managing direct reports, as well as teams that might form across organizational boundaries. As a staff member of Oregon Operations, this position is also expected to play a key role in influencing peers, not only on yield and quality matters, but by being an active participant in meetings pertaining to other Strategic Objectives. The candidate will also assist the staff in leading the organization in continuous improvement and Lean culture development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- New production introduction
- Address customer returns
- Make integration changes to improve yield, reliability, and cost
- Manage non-conformance issues and discrepant material events
- Delivering yield and quality metrics for Oregon Operations group.
- Lead local change control board
- Assume organization wide ownership for one or more Strategic Objectives.
- Drive operational and engineering excellence and a pro-active quality culture throughout the organization.
- Partner with internal customers and partners in Front-end Manufacturing, Final Manufacturing, Business Units and Quality to deliver winning GaAs technologies to improve yield, reliability and cost in support of the corporate objectives.
- Manage a team of 8-10 engineers.
- Manage department level budgets.
- Provide oversight to installation and maintenance of capital equipment.
- Participate and lead cross functional and Lean activity teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with a preference for Electrical Engineering or Physics is required
- 12 plus years’ experience in Yield or Technology Development with or 5 or more years as a Manager in semiconductor wafer processing required.
- Leading edge technology experience preferred and Compound Semiconductor experience a plus.
- Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing methods is highly desirable.
- Ability to troubleshoot to an advanced level, often dealing with new complex issues.
- Ability to deal with multiple issues and shifting priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good foundational problem-solving skills with creative solutions and out of the box thinking.
- Self-motivated; able to take initiative and effectively prioritize work for self.
- A strong desire to help create a positive, winning, world class working environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD degree preferred
