Director, EDA Applications Engineering

The successful candidate will assume the role of Sr. Manager/Director (depending on experience and skill level) of EDA Applications Engineering. As such, the candidate will be responsible for defining, enabling and supporting Qorvo’s design flows and tools, and supporting the business unit’s design teams across all of Qorvo’s internal as well as foundry-based technologies. The candidate will formally lead and grow a team of expert design application engineers. For this role, a high-energy, type-A personality is beneficial. It requires a passion for doing things right, vision to identify best possible end-state, and the determination and grit to get there. Customer experience, long-term satisfaction, and business success will be the metrics the candidate will be measured by.


  • Collaborate with design and technology teams to develop and improve design flows and methodologies across technologies as well as on a product level
  • Collaborate with the PDK team to grow Qorvo’s design capabilities, increase interoperability, efficiency, and design CTs
  • Collaborate with the tape-out automation and the CAD teams to optimize and unify/standardize tape-out flows, and optimize tape-out CTs
  • Collaborate with software teams to automate design engineering problems and increase design efficiency
  • Work with tool vendors to define roadmaps and represent Qorvo’s consolidated requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (or equivalent and relevant experience)
  • 5 or more years of experience in the field of Electronic Design Automation (EDA), RF product design, or CMOS product design.
  • Effective interpersonal communication and documentation skills,
  • Ability to identify and negotiate a common denominator between the requirements of multiple stake holders
  • In depth experience with design and simulation tools like Keysight ADS, Cadence Virtuoso, Cadence AWR/MicroWave Office, Ansys HFSS, etc.
  • Experience with high performance RF IC and/or silicon design and verification flows
  • Thorough understanding of product design flows and design cycles
  • Basic programming skills in a modern language like Python


Location of  this role can be at one of our sites in either OR, NC, TX or FL.
