Job Description:

Create and modify PCB designs and detailed CAD drawings with keen attention to DFM/DFA/DFT requirements. Contribute as an individual and collaborate closely with RF Design Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Test Development Engineers to create designs from concept through manufacturing and test. This role requires deep expertise in Cadence PLM systems, component creation, and library management to ensure design integrity and efficient product lifecycle management.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and hardware engineers and manufacturing specialists, from concept to schematic, layout, and assembly.
  • Host design reviews with all stakeholders.
  • Implement changes to existing documentation based on input from engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Manage and maintain component libraries within Cadence PLM, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design standards.
  • Create new components and symbols in Cadence Allegro, ensuring proper electrical and mechanical attributes.
  • Create and manage schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models in Cadence Allegro with an emphasis on RF, mixed-signal, and power components.
  • Define and maintain robust library standards tailored for high-mix environments, supporting rapid design iterations and product variation.
  • Oversee library version control, documentation, and training to promote design consistency and reduce time-to-market risks.
  • Maintain comprehensive component metadata—part numbers, electrical parameters, sourcing, and lifecycle data—ensuring traceability and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define and implement library management processes and best practices.
  • Ensure version control and traceability of components and design data throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve library-related issues and support continuous improvement of PLM workflows.

Qualifications:

  • BSE Degree in Electronic, Component or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years in PCB design, including high-speed and multilayer boards.
  • Advanced proficiency with Cadence Allegro and Cadence PLM tools.
  • Strong experience in component creation, symbol and footprint development, and library management.
  • Subject expert matter person on IPC-7351 footprint standards and component lifecycle management in high-mix production environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of DFX and PCB manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently, effectively manage timelines and expectations, and produce high-quality deliverables.
  • RF high-frequency design knowledge with heavy experience on ATE multisite load boards and probe cards.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in both electrical and mechanical design; experience with SolidWorks is a big plus.
