Overview:

The Sr. SMT Manufacturing Equipment Engineer will be responsible for sustaining quick-turn manufacturing requirements and leading continual improvement projects within the GO Prototype Assembly organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing Engineering Reviews and Stencil ordering for all Assembly Orders. This includes configuring complex DOE layouts and equipment programming prior to AO start.
  • Owner of Preventative Maintenance routines and schedule for SMT related equipment
  • Use LEAN practices to drive Continual Improvement Projects that focus on NPI development needs such as Cycle-time, Quality, Safety, Cost and sharing these efforts with team engagement. 
  • Owner of SMT Process Documentation, Control Plan and FMEA.
  • Monitor ongoing assembly processes and quality to identify bottlenecks, equipment downtime and throughput issues.
  • Support efforts to transition Product Development into manufacturable processes (Quality, Cycle-Time, and Cost).
    • Support cross functional work center knowledge sharing teams (KST) and alignment with HVM sites
    • Technical resource for collaboration with PKG team and Equipment Suppliers.
  • Thoroughly and accurately communicate equipment and process issues to Engineering and Production Control teams.
  • Lead assembly 8D and corrective action initiatives for Product mis-processed.
  • Provide recommendations for new equipment and materials (e.g., documentation, facilities, acceptance, and training).

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of SMT process and equipment experience
    • Familiar with ASM SiPlace equipment and software
    • Familiar with ASM DEK screen-printing solder and flux
    • Familiar with BTU and inline wash processes
    • Knowledge of DLT processes & requirements
    • Familiar with multi-chip module assemble requirements & best practices
    • Ideally familiar with CA68 format PCB/laminates
  • Comfortable spending approximately 25% of time in coordination and technical meetings; remaining time split between hands-on work on the assembly floor and desk-based tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Microsoft Project, JMP, and production control software is a plus.
  • Ability to work safely in factory environments while wearing required protective equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal qualities: dependable, motivated, positive attitude, and a collaborative team player
  • Capable of making independent decisions when needed and maintaining composure under pressure or when managing multiple challenges.
  • Willingness to work off-shift hours or days as needed to support critical operations.
  • Forward-thinking and ambitious, with a proactive mindset.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project-related needs.
