Summary:

Applicant will primarily develop cutting edge High Efficiency Power Amplifiers and work closely with a core design engineering team and other cross functional team members to transfer this knowledge and design knowhow to the product development engineering team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed, transistor-level RFIC design and advanced development focusing on highly efficient linear and non-linear next generation RF Power Amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, switches, and/or integrated modules.
  • Work with other engineering personnel to create and execute advanced development plans including design, simulation, layout, and verification testing
  • With your cross-functional team members, bring advanced developments from conception to full transfer to the product development team
  • It will be necessary to support Product Marketing and Applications Engineering with product prototypes and samples, data and design summaries, and application circuit recommendations
  • Publish novel design work internally or externally (IMS, RFIC, etc.) to promote Qorvo’s technology and design capabilities.  Submit invention disclosures for potential patents where applicable

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated history of successfully designing state-of-the art RFIC’s in advanced III-V compound semiconductor technologies, specifically GaN or GaAs and/or in RF CMOS, RF SOI and/or BiCMOS technologies
  • Proficiency with RFIC EDA tools such as Keysight ADS and/or Cadence
  • Experience with nonlinear power amplifier architectures for digital predistortion applications
  • Experience with EM simulators such as ADS Momentum, FEM, and/or HFSS
  • Detailed transistor-level knowledge of RF and microwave integrated circuit design techniques including linear power amplifier design, RF switching, low noise amplifiers, bias circuits, and multi-chip module design
  • Understanding of thermal management in power amplifiers
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, highly motivated and very interactive team environment
  • Strong understanding of microwave measurements and calibration methods:  S-parameters, power, efficiency, source/load pull, noise figure, linearity, and intermodulation distortion
  • Hands-on laboratory work including RF tuning and testing
  • Effectively communicate ideas and progress status with the ability to concisely summarize highly technical concepts in presentations and written reports
  • Published author in technical journals and/or magazines strongly desired

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • BS Electrical Engineering
  • MS Electrical Engineering
  • PhD Electrical Engineering (with RF/Microwave focus) with relevant experience
