Sr Process Development Engineer

RESPONSIBILITES:

Qorvo is seeking a Senior Process Development Engineer for their Greensboro, NC Fab. This position will be responsible to work as part of an engineering team for maintaining production processes for a high-volume compound semiconductor and acoustic filter fabrication facility, and assist in developing new and advanced processes to support new product initiatives. The responsibilities include:

  • Interface with production, yield, quality, equipment engineering, and specifically device engineering to support process technology development and to address cross-functional yield and quality challenges.
  • Use broad semiconductor processing knowledge, data analytical capabilities, organizational and leadership skills to investigate process failures and troubleshoot complex process integration challenges.
  • Perform process margin/corner DOEs to ensure manufacturability of new plasma processes on ION Beam Sputter Etch tools.
  • Utilize statistical methods (SPC) to ensure process control and monitoring. Utilize sound problem-solving methodologies to support process improvements.
  • Initiate and qualify continuous improvement and cost saving projects
  • Create and maintain process documentation and production support through operations technicians.
  • Interact with and act as a mentor to process technicians in designing experimentations and provide technical support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS degree required on focused on Chem E, Mech E, Electrical E, Chemistry, Physics or related field. MS/PHD preferred.
  • 5 plus years’ experience in semiconductor or MEMS devices performing Plasma and/or Ion Beam Etch process (dielectric and metal etching).
  • Must have mature verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively interact with production, Equip engineering, and Device engineering teams in a fast-pace environment.
  • Adequate data mining skills: able to swiftly crunch large data pulling from multiple tables in database.
  • Experience in demonstrating statistical skills in data analysis, good knowledge in DOE and SPC are required.
  • The successful candidate will be a self-starter, have the desire to learn new things, be data driven and demonstrate a sense of urgency with a passion for excellence.
  • Hands on experience with top down and cross section SEM and thin film metrology equipment is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of compound semiconductor and acoustic filter device physics, including GaAs, GaN and SAW filter and SQL scripting are preferred.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and cross-functional effectiveness are critical.
