Seeking a self-motivated, safety conscience, and responsible technician to support Qorvo’s quick-turn Greensboro Prototype Assembly Organization – Plating and Finishing work centers.
The candidate must maintain a positive and professional demeanor when faced with challenging situations and work according to strict safety protocols, lead efforts to track down and resolve chronic equipment downtime, yield, or quality issues, have keen attention to detail and dexterity necessary for working with precision tooling and chemical baths.
Play an active role in the continuous team effort to improve quality and cycle time through LEAN tools
Procure, document, and maintain appropriate equipment spares inventory levels
Recommend and justify process improvements with work-center Manager. This can include training, equipment, tooling, materials and more
Responsible for writing purchase requisitions for tools, spares, and equipment consumables
Support documentation – revisions to Work Instructions and PM Procedures.
Support training activities including off-shift hours.
The candidate must clearly communicate any equipment/process problems that can affect safety, build quality or cycle-time to other departments Technical and Supervision team members.
Communicate detailed written pass-downs between shifts and disciplines.
Perform equipment preventive maintenance, unplanned maintenance, and product/material changeovers.
Perform chemical analyses and XRF thickness testing.
Individual must be able to independently and in teams to on process development projects as assigned by the Manager.
Responsibilities:
Primary
- Process new product introduction (NPI) plated parts
- Test chemical baths and maintain properties via chemical adds
- Control the process using standard tools
- Conduct planned and unplanned plating equipment maintenance
- Work in a chemically safe manner with Environmental Safety Team collaboration
- Perform material inventory and management – purchasing team collaboration
- Conduct plating thickness, adhesion, and other quality verification
- Lead efforts to track down and resolve, downtime, yield, and quality issues.
- Support new equipment installations and training.
- Support new employee training efforts in Plating work area (Assemblers and Technicians)
- Responsible for writing purchase requisitions for tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Documentation ownership – write and revise Work Instructions
Secondary
- Supporting equipment and processes in finishing or DTR work centers.
- Trouble shoot equipment and processes as assembler support.
- Support new equipment installations and training.
- Support new employee training efforts in work centers.
- Perform equipment maintenance (scheduled and unscheduled) to ensure tools are safe and running effectively.
- Effectively communicate with all team members (including off shift teams, assemblers, fellow technicians, engineers, and Supervisors) – sharing equipment & process details encountered during the shift.
Qualifications:
- Two-year technical degree in Mechanical, electrical, and/or electronics preferred.
- Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of experience as a plating technician working directly with chemical plating practices. Formal chemistry classes can apply as experience.
- Familiar with applicable software (e.g., CAD, Excel, Word) software.
- Must be safety conscious and possess a basic understanding of Personal Protective Equipment and techniques.
- Must have a strong mechanical aptitude with excellent equipment troubleshooting abilities.
- Must be able to work from detailed drawings, assembly diagrams, specifications and/or verbal instructions required to perform the job.
- Must be VERY quality focused and capable of working in a fast-paced, high-mix/medium-volume environment and able to enlist help to find quick solutions to immediate problems.
- Must get along well with others and maintain a professional attitude especially when dealing with difficult situations.
- Must be willing to work a 12-hour night shift on a 2-2-3 schedule.
