As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our timekeeping and payroll processes. You will ensure the accuracy of data elements, resolve discrepancies, and maintain compliance with audit and SOX requirements. Additionally, you will facilitate audits, maintain confidentiality, and complete mandatory regulatory training. Your expertise will contribute to the smooth operation and efficiency of our payroll system.
This is a hybrid position that will be based in our Greensboro NC office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and correct discrepancies in work schedules, shift differentials, and time off accruals.
- Ensure data accuracy for new hires, terminations, tax changes, deductions, direct deposits, and wage garnishments.
- Interpret, set up, and process all wage assignments accurately.
- Prepare, validate, and reconcile Excel uploads for special payments and reportable items.
- Process payrolls via Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG) for multiple pay groups and FEINS.
- Investigate and resolve payroll processing issues.
- Maintain required documentation for audit and SOX purposes.
- Provide records and documentation to internal auditors.
- Demonstrate understanding of compliance and ethics program policies and maintain appropriate confidentiality.
- Complete mandatory compliance, HIPAA, and state and federal regulatory training.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 4+ years of US payroll experience in multi FEINS, multi-state payroll
- Solid understanding of Payroll Processing and all applicable state & federal wage and hour laws
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, deadline-driven environment
- Handle highly sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and confidentiality and Demonstrate high standards of customer service and excellent follow-up skills
- Strong analytical and math skills to identify issues and problem solve and Critical thinker to identify areas of improvement and recommend process improvements
- Experience doing Pivot Tables and V-lookups in Microsoft Excel
- Experience using automated Payroll systems and utilizing a third-party payroll provider
- Must be able to work flexible hours to meet payroll deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- An associate’s degree in business or related field
- Experience processing US payroll for a corporate company of 4,000+ employees
- Experience using UKG PRO and Workforce Dimensions
- Manufacturing payroll is a plus
