Engineering Technician

This is a full time position working 100% on-site and hands-on in a laboratory enviroment.



Ability to dismantle/de-process and/or troubleshoot highly integrated RF Front End modules using any combination of the below techniques:

     -Hand soldering modules (using tweezers, soldering irons, or hot air reflow stations) generally ranging in size from 10mm x 10mm down to 1mm x 0.5mm

     -Chemical decapsulation, working under a fume hood using fuming nitric acid, fuming sulfuric acid, gold etchant, isopropyl alchohol, and acetone

     -Cross-sectioning and de-layering using polishing wheels with abrasive films

     -Imaging using an imaging microscope

     -Taking measurements of scaled images using various software tools

     -Extracting and handling microscopic (down to ~0.5mm square) die with tweezers

     -Ordering additional work from other Qorvo labs operating scanning electron microscopes and X-Ray equipment

     -Interpreting X-Ray and SEM data

     -Precision polishing of Si and GaAs die to remove single metal layers

     -Precision polishing of organic and ceramic laminates to remove single metal and substrate layers

     -Sample preparation for electrical testing (modifying modules while preserving electrical functionality)

Basic knowlege of electronics and mobile cellular radio front ends



-HS, 2 yr Technical School, Military and/or equivalent experience and training

-Entry level up to 2 years' experience in an engineering lab environment



-Process, image and analyze modules and sub-components

-Prepare and present summary reports created from the data collected in the lab

-Track and maintain an inventory of hundreds of modules in various states of processing across three labs

-Follow safe laboratory procedures and maintain adequate levels of consumables by anticipating future needs and requesting materials with adequate lead time.

-Interface with internal customers at every level of the organization (top executives, engineers, technical and non-technical managers, and other technicians).
