Sr Engineer, Modeling

This opening is for a position in Qorvo’s Compound Semi-conductor (GaAs) and Silicon device modeling group.  The group is responsible for providing Qorvo’s Mobile and IDP (Infrastructure and Defense Product)  designers with accurate compact device models and electromagnetic simulation support.   In Qorvo’s internal GaAs technologies the role is to develop and extract compact models for HBT, PHEMT, and passive devices in Qorvo’s internally developed processes.   In Qorvo’s foundry sourced silicon technologies the role is to validate foundry models against our measurements and provide feedback to the foundries and/or make improvements to the models ourselves where appropriate.   The modeling team works closely with Qorvo Engineering Design Automation (EDA) team to provide designers with a well-integrated circuit design environment.   The key focus is on driving best practices and meeting the challenges of today while continuing to expand and improve their capabilities for tomorrow’s challenges including 5G mmWave and WiFi-7.   



  • Work closely with our external silicon foundry partners and internal technology development team to create cutting edge technologies
  • Direct Wafer level DC, RF, Noise, Large Signal semiconductor device characterization as needed to create/validate compact device models
  • Create, extract, and verify new sub-circuit models for Qorvo’s advanced applications
  • Support new silicon foundry technologies as they are added to Qorvo’s roadmap
  • Provide Designer support and documentation as it relates to model usage, model accuracy, and overall technology capabilities  
  • Automate new or existing processes to improve overall efficiency and quality



  • A BS in Electrical Engineering (MS Preferred) with a strong industry focus on semiconductor devices, RF design, and hands on lab experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in the semiconductor field, or relevant PhD and internship experience
  • An extensive understanding of semiconductor device physics and compact device modeling
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to balance the demands of daily customer support and schedule driven deliverables  
  • A thorough understanding of basic DC & RF measurement equipment and techniques, and a working knowledge of higher-level techniques such as source/load-pull, pulsed I-V, and Noise measurements
  • Extensive Simulation & Layout Experience with Keysight ADS, Cadence AWR Microwave Office, or Cadence Virtuoso is essential
  • Industry experience with Electro-Magnetic (EM) simulation tools (such as Keysight Momentum or Ansys HFSS) and/or experience with Keysight’s IC-CAP model extraction platform is ideal
  • A working knowledge of power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, and RF switch circuits and applications is useful
  • MS or PhD is preferred
