Summary:

 

In Qorvo’s Technology Platforms (TP) and Advanced Development group within the Advanced Cellular business unit, we are looking for a Director of Advanced Development Program Management to lead a team of Technical Project Managers and technology platform developments for innovative technology, advanced developments, and platforms from concept to release.  The Director of Advanced Development Technical Project Management is a senior leader tasked with orchestrating large-scale technical programs and guiding teams of project managers to deliver complex initiatives. This role demands a deep understanding of project management methodologies combined with technical expertise. This role will also include working with circuit design and technology experts as well as other business unit technical experts to ensure the successful execution of advanced development (AD), Technology Development (TD) and Platform (XP) projects in our latest and emerging technologies to support Qorvo’s most advanced products targeting major cellular handsets.  As part of a cross-functional technology platforms and advanced development team, the candidate will support other essential disciplines including technology development, marketing and applications, project management, quality, characterization, production, and test engineering.

 

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Work closely within the TP management team (Engineering, Marketing, Program Mgmt) on project selection and prioritization, scope control, budget, resource allocation, TP reporting, and support of TP technical resolutions.
  • Manage and mentor a team of program/project managers who are directly responsible for executing on all new technology, advanced development, and platform development from Concept through Release, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Continuously improving the speed, predictability, and quality of project development from concept to release, through implementation of Best Practices and roll-out of companywide CI activities within Project Management discipline.
  • Interface with teams and work centers outside TP, including Support Engineering, Quality, Advanced Reliability, Business Units, Supply Chain and Operations, to achieve successful and timely project/product development and production release through project/product roadmaps and timelines, resource requirements, material requirements, customer requirements, and risk management.
  • Responsible for allocation of PM resources to projects. Continual oversight of New Technology, Advance Development and Platform Development Schedules to ensure timely and predictable execution of project releases.
  • Prioritization of new technology, advance development and platform development work center schedule conflicts and allocation of assigned support engineering resources.
  • Own the deliverables of TP project/product development in the PDE (Product Development Engine) systems including review and approvals of AD, TD, XP project development gate milestones and various PDE deliverables, while working with the support work centers as the process evolves over time.
  • Work closely with Design Team Leads and Project Managers to provide oversight of the project team’s goals, scope, deliverables, and schedule to ensure optimal chances for project success.
  • Communicate/Present to internal and external customers on current projects status of all development activities.
  • Own and manage the execution of new technology development project management process with careful attention to opportunities for 8-step continuous improvements.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and TP Staff to generate yearly fiscal budget with routine oversight of projects development cost towards budget plans.
  • Emphasis on good stewardship of development team resources.
  • Provide guidance to IT and the PDE governance board on ongoing improvements to the PDE system – supporting AD, TD and XP projects.
  • Continual investigation for Lean operational improvements across all disciplines of Project Management.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • MS in Project Management, PMI certification preferred, with at least 10 years of technical project management experience
  • BS, MS, in Electrical Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant or related experience.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing technical teams.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes and an understanding of the physics of semiconductor devices.
  • Familiarity with RF, Analog, and/or Mixed Signal circuit design techniques and fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art SOI and CMOS technologies.
  • Be able to manage a team of diverse experts potentially outside the candidate’s core area of expertise.
  • Strong drive to support teams that innovate and pursue performance advancements through early new technology adoption and novel circuit techniques and architecture.
