SUMMARY:
The Environmental Health and Safety Engineer will help maintain and continually improve the health and safety programs. This position will recommend correction to deficiencies, eliminate hazards, and contribute to the overall improvement of environmental health and safety programs and processes. This position is dedicated to safety with minor responsibilities for Industrial Hygiene.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own and assist in the ownership of core safety programs. The core elements include: Lockout Tagout, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Fall Protection, Mobile Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment and Fire Protection.
- Manage injury/illness program including investigation, review reporting and accident prevention follow-up. Investigate "near miss" accident situations and develop accident prevention solutions and policies.
- Own the success of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), including facilitating training and drills, maintaining equipment, and ensuring participation across the site.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and systems through consistent monitoring and auditing; provide expert analysis and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Manage EHS projects using innovative thinking. Multitask and manage multiple ongoing projects to completion.
- Ensure a consistent understanding and adherence to both regulatory and site requirements by interacting with all levels of the organization. Interactions will include upper management, technicians, and maintenance staff.
- Develop presentations for stakeholders on projects, progress, metrics, safety regulations, policies, procedures, and lessons learned.
- Learn the operational units and processes of which regulations and requirements must be applied. Be able to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate on the Qorvo Corporate cross-site EHS Collaboration team
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety and health or similar field of study. MS degree and/or recognized EHS certification preferred.
- 2-5 years’ experience. Prefer experience in a fast-paced, high volume industrial manufacturing environment or semiconductor manufacturing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of Federal and Texas governmental regulations relative to safety and health.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; proven effective interaction between departments and projects using experienced program management skills.
- Enthusiastic and innovative approach to safety, while driving positive change.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at one time, maintain flexibility, and work independently
- Ability to think ahead and plan over a short and long-term focus.
- Ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.
