Designers are pushing the limits of technology and design tools. The Design Applications team enables design success of highly complex products through software automation, customized design flows, and user support.

 

Qorvo is seeking a Design Applications Engineering Manager responsible for building and leading an expert team of Design Applications engineers. The candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting Qorvo’s design flows which empower design teams with best-in-class EDA tools.  In this position, you will lead a team of Design Application Engineers developing simulation automation and design flows for digital, analog/mixed signal, and RF designs while providing great support to the design teams.  The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of designing integrated circuits and RF modules.  This role provides an opportunity for leadership, mentoring, and hands-on contribution.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Lead a team of EDA (Electronic Design Automation) Applications Engineers providing simulation support for III-V and Silicon circuits, as well as RF Module development
  • Lead and support the development of simulation automation and flows to enhance productivity of design engineers
  • Collaborate with Design, PDK and Modeling teams to improve design flows
  • Work with software developers to develop methodologies, standards, and software to automate design engineering problems
  • Evaluate and determine the best EDA technology and tools
  • Define design flow standards through collaboration with design teams, drive documentation and proliferation of information
  • Interface with CAD tool vendors to drive best in class tools and resolve issues
  • Manage, train, and mentor a team of engineers while encouraging both technical and professional development

 

Required Skills and Management Experience:

 

  • Proven track record managing technical teams or high-performance team(s) developing RF products such as RF Silicon, GaAs or GaN-based RFIC, MMIC, or integrated module products
  • Candidates must have a strong hands-on background and familiarity with RF, EM, analog and mixed-signal design tools and flows in a multi-technology environment
  • Experience with schematic design, RF simulation and EM simulation software including working with Keysight ADS and/or AWR, Ansys HFSS, Cadence, and other EDA CAD tool environments.
  • Solid working knowledge of semiconductor processes
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to lead technical discussions and presentations
  • Proactive in working to meet customer needs
  • Must be able to manage, work and communicate effectively cross functional engineering team

 

Preferred Experience:

 

  • RF Module and/or RF Silicon design experience is a plus
  • Experience with distributed, load-sharing and cloud-based simulation methods is a plus
  • Insight into current state and future directions of the EDA industry is preferred

 

Required Education & Experience:

 

  • BSEE with 7 or more years leading EDA teams or RF product development
  • MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering with 5 or more years leading EDA teams or RF product development
