Qorvo is seeking an experienced technical leader with an extensive RF design engineering background for our open Design Engineering Director position in San Jose, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead teams in the design and development of highly innovative, industry-leading multi-technology module solutions that meet customer specifications regarding performance, quality, support, and schedule
- Lead teams responsible for designing modules across multiple design sites including the development of PAs, LNAs, RF Switches, Power Management chips, and Digital blocks and Layout for these.
- Coordinate design activities with other functions to ensure the products are developed within an aggressive schedule to be first to market
- Ensure the technical integrity of all design activities through adherence to Qorvo Design Processes, best practices, etc.
- Drive operational efficiency initiatives related to functional block re-use and reductions in cycle time throughout design teams
- Work closely with R&D, facilitating rapid and trouble-free transition of new technologies into products
- Provide direction to engineering management; responsible for hiring, leading, developing, and managing the performance of those reporting to this position
- Develop an organization that values taking ownership and holds team accountable for performance
- Promote a CPI (continuous process improvement) culture in Design Engineering as well as other cross-functional support areas
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong leadership and change management skills to lead teams through various change initiatives aimed at improving product quality and performance
- Excellent interpersonal and people management skills to manage individual/team performance and motivation at different engineering career levels
- Advanced analytical skills to analyze problems and technical situations leading to optimal solutions
- Organizational skills to develop teams necessary to meet the group mission and interface with other units within the company
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to articulate technical information in presentation format in front of large audiences of internal and external customers
- 5+ years of experience in leading engineering teams
- BSEE required; MSEE preferred
- RF design management experience, preferably in the cellular handset market
- RF module design experience with a comprehensive understanding of RF module product development and manufacturing
- Proven track record of bringing new products to market
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $196,700 - $255,800, relevant for the California Bay Area (subject to change dependent on physical location).

Qorvo reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as external competitiveness and internal comparability.
