Qorvo is looking for a Senior Design Engineering Manager to lead a team of MMIC and Integrated Module Design Engineers based in its Chelmsford, MA, design center.  This team utilizes Qorvo’s world-class GaAs pHEMT and GaN-on-SiC process technologies to offer high performance MMIC-based products for the Defense & Aerospace, Commercial & Military SATCOM, and Test & Measurement markets.  You will be a key member of a New Product Development (NPD) team that includes Marketing, Program Management, Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering, Package Engineering, Test Engineering, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality and Reliability, and Senior Management.  You will report directly to a Design Engineering Director based in Richardson, TX, home of Qorvo’s Infrastructure and Defense Products (IDP) headquarters and its high REL GaAs and GaN foundry and Automated Microwave Module Assembly (AMMA) manufacturing facilities.
 

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of designers to develop MMIC and/or Module based products ranging from 50 MHz to 50 GHz.  Circuit functions include Low Noise Amplifiers, Driver Amplifiers, Power Amplifiers, Attenuators, Phase Shifters, Limiters, Switches, and Mixers.
  • Work with IDP’s NPD team to execute the product roadmap through all phases including product definition and planning, design, manufacturing, assembly, test, and qualification.
  • Interface regularly with key customers from initial engagement through product launch.
  • Generate development budgets and schedules for new product ideas sponsored by the internal marketing team as well as from external customers seeking custom MMIC design services.
  • Handle design engineering resource management such as staffing and technical development.

Required Technical Skills and Management Experience:

  • Proven track record managing high performance team(s) to develop GaAs or GaN-based RFIC, MMIC, or integrated module products.
  • Solid working knowledge of III-V semiconductor process capabilities.
  • Experience with schematic design, RF simulation and EM simulation software.
  • Proven track-record of having brought commercial and/or Defense & Aerospace semiconductor-based products to market.
  • Knowledge of ADS and/or AWR design tools to collaborate with and mentor design engineers.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to lead technical discussions and present to internal and external customers.
  • .Strong ability to meet customer technical needs and schedules.

 

Desired Experience:

  • Hands-on design of GaAs or GaN RFIC/MMIC products;, Si knowledge is a plus.
  • Analog  and mixed signal design experience is a plus.
  • Published author in technical journals and/or magazines.

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering with 7 or more years leading RF product development.
  • MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering with 5 or more years leading RF product development.
