As a Product Engineer in the HPA Product Group, you will be part of a focused team that develops and qualifies new products while also maintains the current portfolio of released products. You will be driving innovation and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, dynamic environment through the use of rigorous statistical methods.

 

The position focuses on new product introductions, improving yields, maintaining quality and perfecting test solutions for wireless RF products. Interfaces with Design, Applications, Test, Process, Reliability, Quality Engineering and Operations teams throughout the development process.  This position will be based in Chelmsford, MA.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Become proficient with the functionality and design attributes of MMWave Silicon IC Beamformers and Frequency Converters. 
  • Drive and own Product Engineering deliverables for New Product Development.
  • Data-driven decision making based on timely and thorough data analysis.
  • Provide detailed analyses for each major design revision during the prototype phase of development, identify key parameters needing improvement and then communicate these to the core development team.
  • Practice continuous improvement and yield optimization by tracking wafer foundry parameters, uncovering correlations and troubleshooting process and equipment issues.
  • Employ appropriate Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles to reduce variability in product performance.
  • Develop test plans for prototype and production electrical testing of wafers and packaged devices.
  • Analyze products to ensure manufacturability and data sheet compliance, including setting the optimal screening limits and guard-bands in production test plans.
  • Support Test Engineering activities to debug, validate and release production test hardware/software.
  • Conduct measurement systems analysis (Gauge R&R).
  • Compile and analyze data using common statistical techniques (time-series analysis, CPK, DOE, SPC, ANOVA) and effectively present key results along with recommended actions.
  • Generates Yield Plans that provide a roadmap for improving manufacturing efficiency in order to optimize cost models and to meet yield targets.
  • Engage in group problem-solving and process improvement projects (familiarity with Six Sigma or comparable methods is desirable).
  • Serve as the central technical resource for design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as products move from the prototype phase into production.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience or an equivalent amount of advanced education and experience in a semiconductor environment, preferably within the wireless RF industry.
  • Understanding of IC reliability and qualification methods.
  • Use and documentation of disciplined problem-solving techniques such as 8D or 5-Whys.
  • Experience in statistical methods, database interfaces, statistical software and data automation tools, such as Databricks, SQL, Python, Spotfire, JMP and Excel.
  • Understanding of RF/Microwave theory and semiconductor physics.
  • Knowledge of typical RF test equipment and common test methodologies.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivation and ability to achieve results with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to interface effectively and build consensus with coworkers at every level of the company.
  • Time management skills sufficient to balance multiple high-priority activities.
  • Comfort leading activities and projects at both the tactical and strategic level.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable technical discipline.
  • Background in Wi-Fi and Cellular standards.

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $81,400 - $105,900 (subject to change dependent on physical location) 

Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Qorvo reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as external competitiveness and internal comparability. 

Base compensation is one element of Total Rewards offered at Qorvo. More information on the Total Rewards package can be shared upon request.
