Senior Application Design Engineer

Qorvo's Application Engineering group is looking for a hands-on Senior Analog IC Designer to join our EDA Applications Engineering team. This is a hybrid role: you'll bring real transistor-level design experience into the team that builds, qualifies, and supports the design methodologies used across our RF, analog, mixed-signal, and digital IC groups. You will be designing and characterizing circuits yourself, and use that first-hand insight to make our EDA tools, flows, and PDKs genuinely better for the designers who depend on them.

Key Responsibilities:

Hands-On Analog/RF IC Design

• Design, simulate, and characterize high-performance analog and mixed-signal building blocks, including precision amplifiers and comparators, voltage references and bias circuits, oscillators and clock generation, ADCs/DACs, power management blocks, and mixed-signal control/calibration circuits.
• Own circuits end-to-end from circuit design and simulation through layout oversight, tape-out support, and silicon characterization and debug.
• Provide technical design leadership, mentor engineers, and contribute to invention disclosures and technical publications.

EDA Applications Engineering & Methodology

• Provide day-to-day applications support to RFIC, analog, mixed-signal, and digital design teams on industry-standard EDA tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, and related platforms).
• Develop, qualify, and deploy silicon design methodologies and flows spanning custom analog/RF design, AMS verification, digital implementation/verification, modeling, simulation, and silicon correlation.
• Translate hands-on design and debug experience into reference flows, PDK enablement, reusable automation, and design best practices that improve first-pass silicon success.
• Evaluate, benchmark, and qualify new EDA tools and capabilities; partner directly with EDA vendors to resolve technical issues and influence product roadmaps.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with technology, design, CAD, and product engineering teams to raise design productivity and quality.
• Deliver training, documentation, and mentoring that raise designer proficiency across RF, analog, mixed-signal, and digital methodologies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in transistor-level analog IC design
• Demonstrated design experience with one or more of: amplifiers, comparators, voltage references/bias circuits, oscillators, ADCs/DACs, or mixed-signal subsystems.
• Expert knowledge of Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, and standard analog verification/characterization tools.
• Strong fundamentals in analog circuit design, device physics, noise analysis, stability and compensation, and matching/PVT variation analysis.
• Hands-on silicon characterization and debug experience.
• Experience (or strong interest in) providing applications support, defining design methodology, or otherwise acting as a technical bridge between designers and EDA tools/flows.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with comfort operating as the interface between design teams, internal CAD organizations, and EDA vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with RF transceiver and front-end design and their system-level trade-offs/specifications.
• End-to-end analog/RFIC development experience from definition through productization.
• Experience with AMS verification and digital design/verification flows, and familiarity with tools such as Xcelium, Synopsys HSPICE/PrimeSim, VCS, Keysight ADS, or AWR.
• Experience defining enterprise EDA design flows, tool qualification processes, or collaborating with EDA vendors on roadmap development.
• Knowledge of EM, package, thermal, or multi-physics simulation.
• Familiarity with data analysis/programming tools such as MATLAB, JMP, Spotfire, Python, or ADS AEL.
