RF/Microwave Test Engineer - This work entails characterization and data reporting of front-end modules (FEMs) and RF switches used in wireless RF applications. FEM designs involve the integration of a broad suite of Qorvo's RF technologies including, GaAs PAs, LNAs, switches, SAW and BAW filters.
Responsibilities
- Assists design team to achieve the optimal module performance including part bring up, test plan creation and full characterization using the latest state of the art in RF/microwave test equipment.
- Provide clear and concise reports using latest data analysis tools.
- Troubleshoot complex DC and RF test benches as needed during day-to-day operation.
- Develop/modify test software and test hardware for special test situations not covered with existing routines working with other test and characterization engineers to expedite release.
- Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement around test automation, accuracy, and speed.
- Document test system and software designs and help train other team members.
- Support lab improvements through 5S and Lean continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop/modify standalone applications used to aid in the post-processing and analysis of collected data.
- Support bench and rack maintenance by working with hand tools as needed and be able to lift and move test equipment around the lab.
- Follow effective RF connector care and RF measurement best practices as instructed.
Job Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline, Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred
- 0-2 years of professional experience
- Experience with test equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, noise figure meters, oscilloscopes, and digital multimeters is required
- Basic understanding of DC and RF measurement concepts such as S-parameters, power spectral density, noise figure, harmonics and other types of intermodulation distortion is required
- Basic knowledge of programming languages is required (object-oriented languages are preferred)
- Knowledge of digital modulation techniques used in LTE, LTEA and 5GNR phones and the associated measurements such as ACLR, EVM, SEM used in RF communication standards is preferred
- Attention to detail is a critical requirement when dealing with highly complex product specifications
- Ability to use data visualization tools such as Spotfire, JMP or Excel and presentation tools such as PowerPoint
- Be able to tailor the data for the internal customer consuming the data
- Effective organization skills for systematic planning and scheduling
